WoMo is raising money

Behind the scenes here at WoMo towers (home tower post Covid) we have been working with our amazing tech partners to build something incredible.

We are almost ready to launch, at Beta stage, a SaaS platform (that’s a subscription platform for the novices amoung us, NB: I had NO idea when I started this) that will be offered to employees when they announce they are having a baby. I think we can ALL agree, the process of telling your employer your are pregnant and then going off on maternity leave, has been far from plain sailing for many women.

With a career in HR and 3 maternity leaves myself, I felt I was well placed to understand the nightmare businesses and women face when the management of maternity leave goes badly. We need to banish these hideous experiences and make it much better. So I decided to build a platform that would do exactly that.

Under the SEIS scheme WoMo is raising £150k. We have £20k committed already and a couple of other investors keen to put their money where their mouth is. SEIS is a tax efficient scheme which you can read more about here.

The purpose of the WoMo SaaS platform for the mother is:

  • To receive wellbeing support and guidance through a life changing time in her life

  • To feel valued by her employer

  • To keep connected at a time when she is away from the normal office environment (we know this is slightly shady concept post Covid, but you get the point!)

  • To connect with other WoMos who are having a baby at a similar time

  • To have access to resource and help whilst finding a new world of work with a baby

  • To give WoMos a positive experience of maternity leave

The purpose of the WoMo platform for the company is:

  • To keep connected to women when they are on maternity leave

  • To provide line manager training to ensure the right types of conversations are taking place with the woman on mat leave

  • To minimise litigation

  • To keep female talent engaged and connected to the workplace

  • To minimise the gender pay gap and have more women in business

  • To provide a wellbeing solution at a time when a woman is going through a life changing period in her life
