Hello Abby, tell us a bit about yourself. What do you do and how old are your children and what happens with your kids when you are at work?
I’m Abby, the founder of Luna Gray. We specialise in maternity activewear, specifically maternity leggings but hope to branch out into other products soon. Having been working on the business for some time we finally went live in March 2021.
I am the proud mummy to two wonderful boys aged 5 and 2. My eldest son started school in September and my youngest attends nursery twice a week. I try and structure my working week so that I get the admin heavy tasks done when both of them are out the house. The remaining time lacks any structure and is literally a case of fitting in everything whenever there is time to.
1. ONE WORD TO DESCRIBE HOW BEING A WOMO MAKES YOU FEEL?
Proud.
2. WHAT’S THE FUNNIEST EXPERIENCE YOU HAVE HAD JUGGLING KIDS AND WORK?
When all my stock arrived and was delivered to my next door neighbour who opened a box and was completely baffled at what she saw- is she pregnant, how many leggings does she need!
3. WHAT IS THE ONE PIECE OF ADVICE YOU COULD OFFER ANOTHER WOMO?
If you have an idea do something about it. What is the worst that can happen?
4. WHAT’S THE LEAST AMOUNT OF SLEEP YOU’VE GONE TO WORK ON AND HOW DID YOU COPE?
Probably a couple of hours. Clearly we have thin walls in our house and the boys are light sleepers. I didn’t really cope, I just drunk coffee and prayed for 5pm.
5. WHAT HAVE YOU LEARNED ABOUT YOURSELF AS A WOMO?
It’s hard work but so rewarding. I love working so it’s like a switch off for me.

7. WHAT IS YOUR GUILTY PLEASURE TO COMBAT WOMO GUILT THE BEST?
Taking the kids to get a happy meal at McDonalds.
8. WOULD YOU RATHER BE DEALING WITH A TANTRUM OR PRESENTING IN A BOARD MEETING?
Presenting in a board room… At least they would understand what I’m saying!
9. IF YOU ASKED YOUR CHILDREN WHAT YOUR JOB IS, WHAT WOULD THEY SAY?
“mummy sells leggings and they have all our names on them”.
