So it's back to school time and my 11 year old pipes up that her trainers no longer fit and her school shoes will therefore probably be too small. It's a week today till her first day back and reality bites.
WoMo fitness: on your bike
As WoMos I think we will all agree, the one thing you need on a constant basis is energy. Sometimes there are those days when you feel like you are walking through mud. It’s exhausting. Then some days you whizz through every bit of the day with a spring in your step. If you're anything like me, it isn’t sleep dependent either. I can have days where I’m firing on all cylinders on a bad night’s sleep. Sleep helps of course, but for me, what really makes the difference is exercise.
What do you actually do when you go to work, Mummy?
Over breakfast this morning my middle one pipes up: Mummy, when are we going on holiday?’ I explain we are going in 2 weeks. We are off to North Norfolk for a week. She then continues: 'Are you working until we go?’
I explain that yes, Mummy will be at work every day until we go but then we will have a fabulous time all of us together, and Mummy won’t need to go to work from Norfolk.
It goes on: 'What do you actually do when you go to work Mummy?’ This is where the hard bit starts...
Be weak sometimes. It makes you stronger.
It has been one of those weeks. You know the ones. The ones when you find it hard to put one foot in front of the other.
I think it’s all very well that we push on as working mothers, finding strength in the deepest parts of our souls to be all we can be at work and all we can be as a Mummy. But what happens when you just can’t go on?
