There are plenty of blogs out there all about new years resolutions. Personally I am not a big believer in a big 12 month promise.
It seems vast, and its easy to lose focus and quit at the first hurdle. How about a month by month goal? Pick something for January and go for it. Don’t even worry about February until you get close to the end of Jan. Small bite size goals are more manageable and you have more chance of success.
Depending on what your goal is, try not to beat yourself up if you drop the ball for a day. For example, Veganuary. If you eat eggs one day because you didn’t realise they were in the divine cake someone produced in the office, don’t worry. Just carry on from there. Self sabotage is bad for self-confidence and quite frankly helps no one. Give it your all and if there is a small unintentional slip up, let it go and move on. We aren’t perfect and a strive for perfection could be the very thing that means you feel like you fail in life.
What else can we be doing in 2019? Whether 2018 was good for you or bad for you, be grateful. Showing gratitude helps us appreciate what we have. Take a moment to think about what 2018 gave to you. It could be an experience, it could be a feeling, it could be a success. Think of 5 things that were awesome in 2018 and just give thanks and gratutide. All experiences help us grow and make us who we are today, and you are stepping into 2019 with a whole load of lessons from 2018, whether you feel it or not.
