Christmas Pressure

Is anyone else beginning to feel the pressure? Christmas is upon us, the supermarkets are selling mince pies, there are Christmas decorations EVERYWHERE and this means the school holidays are looming. As a busy WoMo, I am sure we all have the same to-do list.

Mine looks something like this:

  • King costume for the nativity play

  • Christmas presents

  • Find the elf on the shelf

  • Organise school holidays activities

  • Book time off work over Christmas

  • Check when the team are in to make sure the above point is possible

  • Wonder why I have left it so late…. (see above 2 points)

  • Organise a turkey or equivalent (this year I don’t need to but I am sure its on the list for many)

  • Get your online food delivery slot locked in

  • Get the decorations from the loft/cupboard

  • Organise babysitters for Christmas parties

  • Buy gifts for the school teachers

Then as an after thought, because no one really thinks beyond Christmas day at this time of the year, remember that New Years Eve sneaks up right behind Christmas. It’s a bit like emptying the bins. You delay it and then it REALLY needs sorting because it smells. That’s my view on New Year. All a bit of a stink.

Once kids are involved in your life, New Year takes on a whole new meaning. Getting lashed up with your friends into the wee hours is a waste of time, as no one wants an all day adult hangover with children AND the babysitting is 5x as much. Rightly so for the babysitter I might add, but suddenly paying 5x over for a bad hangover is a no brainer.

I’ll be on my sofa recovering from Christmas. And now I think about it, I can’t wait!
