I

Do you compartmentalise?

Do you find yourself adopting a wide range of personas as a WoMo?

As a Mummy I think we wear many hats and despite the view that men are the ones who compartmentalise, I think us WoMos are pros.

How many of you do this on a daily basis?:

  • WoMo V1: Up, out of bed, tired, crotchety and putting on a positive Mummy face for your little people

  • WoMo V2: Commuter Mum, head down, speak to no one, my time moment (mini celebration)

  • WoMo V3: At work, serious, game face, coping, managing, powerful, making sh*t happen

  • WoMo V4: Home again, exhausted and still smiling as there is a touch of guilt, and your mini person needs you.

  • WoMo V5: Out with her friends, having fun, hair down, dancing and feeling like the you who existed before you were juggling jobs and babies.

Now if that isn’t compartmentalising, I don’t know what is. As we learn to blend our home and work life even more, it is us WoMos who need to lead the charge for women everywhere. If you find you don’t mention your kids at work, or you pretend to work in the pre-child way then you aren’t being authentic. And being the real authentic you is a much happier place to be.

Today in the office we had halloween fancy dress, and it’s more of a playground at school than it is at home, and its hilarious. Everyone has still worked hard, had a good day, but there has been a playful sense of fun in the office. The game face has been off, there is no pressure and you know what, I have some cracking pumpkin photos to show my kids when I get home.

Today the WoMo versions have been blended, and its a relief.
