Ways to Stay Organized and Motivated as a WoMo

One of the most demanding jobs in the world is being a stay at home working mother. The number of stay at home working moms has grown considerably over the past couple of years. Chiefly due to technology’s ability to allow employees to work remotely from home.

The number of professionals working from home world-wide shifted dramatically in 2020 due to the coronavirus pandemic. According to a Gartner survey, in March of 2020 88% of organizations worldwide encouraged their employees to work remotely. With the increased number of mothers working from home, know that you are not alone in your struggle to stay motivated and organized as you balance both childcare and work responsibilities.

How to Stay Organized

Staying organized at work can be difficult in general. It is even more complicated and demanding if you are tasked with keeping both your children and yourself focused and centered throughout the day. Some days it feels impossible. To be better organized, use the printables below and do these three steps.

Step 1

List one or two things that excite you for the day. Your excitement could be about reading the next chapter in your book or spending quality time at lunch with your kids or partner. They can also be work-related such as being excited about a project or an opportunity to impress your coworkers.

Step 2

Now, write down either a focus or a declaration. They should be attainable for the day. For instance, you can focus on staying upbeat or resilient. While a declaration can be geared towards your own personal growth. They should be positive and overtly state something you can be proud of at the end of the day.

Step 3

Finally, write down today’s priorities from most-to-least important or pressing. It’s up to you how you list your priorities, but they can be a mix of work objectives and goals or personal tasks. Just make sure that the priorities are manageable to do in one day and don’t cause too much stress.
